WORLD WATER DAY ACTIVITIES AT THE PRIMARY SCHOOL 20.03.2025
At our primary school, the events organized for World Water Day on March 21st helped raise students' awareness about the importance of water conservation. All students displayed the words related to "Water" and their meanings on the large board they prepared. 1st Grade students read the book "The Polar Bear Who Lost Its Home" and raised awareness about the environmental issues causing polar bears to lose their habitats. 2nd Grade students tracked how much paper they used in one day on a tally chart. They suggested ways to reduce paper consumption and shared their findings with other classes. On Wednesday, they declared a “Paperless Day” for the entire school, drawing attention to paper reduction and the conservation of water. 3rd Grade students researched the water levels in the reservoirs of İzmir and created a large poster. On Thursday, they held a 3-minute silent action in the school’s large garden with their posters to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation. This act sent a strong message about the value of water. 4th Grade students gathered remarkable data about the water levels in İzmir's reservoirs. They collected local and global examples under the titles “What’s Being Done in İzmir,” “What’s Being Done in Turkey,” and “What’s Being Done Worldwide.” These findings were shared with the entire school at the water assembly on March 21st. World Water Day activities helped students develop environmental awareness and understand the importance of water conservation in an enjoyable and educational way.
