TRIP TO THE SUPERMARKET 07.10.2024

Our 2nd graders worked on the central idea of "Our choices affect our well-being" as part of their transdisciplinary theme "Who We Are". After questioning what needs to be done for a healthy and balanced body and mind, they visited the supermarket nearby to observe the impact of our nutritional choices as part of the 3rd line of inquiry, "Change to increase our well-being". They examined the food given to them in groups in the market. They calculated the shelf life of the food by looking at the production and expiration dates, looked at the package contents, and noticed the preservatives added to the food to increase their shelf life. They decided whether the food was healthy or unhealthy by looking at the ingredients in the food. They will then work on how to make unhealthy foods healthier at home.
