THEY CELEBRATED WORLD PEACE DAY WITH VARIOUS ACTIVITIES 26.09.2024

Our primary school students celebrated World Peace Day with various activities. We planned our activities in the light of the concept of “conflict resolution”. Our 1st graders did role plays based on the story “Rubi Behaves Rudely” they read. They talked about what can be done for peace. Our 2nd graders studied the meaning of the word “Peace”. In the “Sandwich Swap” activity, they combined World Peace Day with the healthy eating topic they covered in Unit 1. First of all, they identified what a healthy sandwich should contain and then what should be done for peace. They matched each ingredient with an act of peace and symbolically created “Peace Sandwiches”. Our 3rd graders started from the problems they experienced during garden time. They talked about them and came up with solutions. They combined them into a peace treaty. Our 4th graders wrote down what comes to mind when they think of peace. They examined the concept of peace with PYP key concepts. They also emphasized justice, equality and human rights with a game they played in the garden in accordance with equality and peace. They also decorated our corridor with the peace flags they made in art class.
