THE TRANSFORMATION OF İZMIR AND SUSTAINABLE DESIGNS 26.11.2024

Our 2nd-grade students delved into the history of their city as part of the unit “Where We are in place And Time”, exploring İzmir’s transformation over time. They examined the changes in transportation and discussed how these transformations impact our lives. Under the theme “The Impact of Change on Our Lives”, they reflected on how homes and transportation might evolve for a more sustainable world. Eager to gather more knowledge, we invited one of our parents, Architect Gizem Akyıldız, to school to share her expertise on sustainable designs. Ms. Akyıldız gave an engaging presentation on the history of İzmir and the benefits of sustainability for both people and nature. She showed examples of sustainable homes and transportation systems and explained how such designs are implemented. Following the presentation, our students had the opportunity to ask questions and deepen their understanding of the topic.
