OUR FOURTH GRADERS' TRIP TO IZMIR 13.12.2024

As 4th graders, in this unit, we organised a trip to get to know Izmir, the city we live in, based on the central idea of ‘Learning about those who lived before us allows us to understand today and tomorrow.’ We started our trip by visiting the ancient city of Agora, one of the oldest settlements of Izmir. We learned which civilisations have lived here from the past to the present, the impact of civilisations on each other and the present. In 1907, we took a ride in the Historical Elevator and examined the houses on both sides of Dario Moreno Street leading to the elevator from the outside. Finally, we visited the Izmir Culture and Art Factory and examined the outstanding examples of painting, sculpture and ceramic art from the 19th century to the present day. We realised our responsibilities to protect our cultural heritage from the past to the present. We enriched the work we did in class throughout the unit with what we learned on our trip.
