FROM THE WAR OF INDEPENDENCE TO THE REPUBLIC 01.11.2017

We hosted Prof. Dr. Hasan Mert, who teaches at the Department of History (History of the Turkish Republic) at Ege University, during the second session of this year’s “Free Intellectuals Symposium” organised by the HS Social Sciences Department. The theme of the symposium was “From the War of Independence to the Republic”. Mr. Mert told about the War of Independence, which was a huge struggle of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the Turkish people to get rid of a poor and captive life and gain their freedom and independence, and the important events occurred during this challenging journey from the War of Independence to the Republic. He also gave examples about those events by considering their historical context. After getting answers to their various questions, our students thanked and applauded our guest.
