ENVIROMATES & ELC STUDENTS TOOK ACTION TO MAKE COMPOST TOGETHER 17.02.2022

Işıkkent Sosyal Etki Yaratanlar-EnviroMates team, registered in the 'Global Social Leaders' program, which is carried out by the 'Future Foundations' and 'Wellington Leadership Institute' for the purpose of raising the leadership and environmental awareness of young people, has been actively working on creating awareness about ‘Responsible Consumption and Production’ of the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations for the last 2 years. The team met with our kindergarten students for the first time in December and held a workshop to raise awareness on protecting nature and the planet we live in. The team met ELC 3 students again this week and took action to make compost. This will be a recycling process for the food waste that is not consumed during the day rather than going to waste. EnviroMates members first showed the ELC 3 students how to make Bokashi Compost, and then started doing it step by step together. The team members meet ELC 3 students every day after lunch and manage the process together. Soon the Bokashi buckets will be full, the filled buckets will meet the garden compost bins, and the food waste will turn into compost, ready to be mixed with the soil. We will follow this process with full excitement.
