EDUCATORS GATHERED TOGETHER AT THE 10th HANDAN OKTAR EARLY CHILDHOOD AND PRIMARY YEARS CONFERENCE 07.05.2016

We have hosted the 10th Handan Oktar Early Childhood and Primary Years Conference with the participation of 320 teachers from more than 70 schools around Turkey. This year’s topic was “Different Learners-Differentiated Education”. The training given by Dr. Tony Humphreys, author, clinical psychologist, educator and consultant, extended the horizons of the participants. Dr. Humphreys raised awareness on the most important topic in our homes and school: how relationships and communication should before education. On the second day of the conference, Dr. Humphreys emphasized the importance of the way we teach, rather than the content of our teaching. He advised educators to pay attention to their students’ individual, social, emotional and educational needs –which, if remain unnoticed, could get in the way of reaching the academic outcomes- before focusing on the academic content. Dr. Humphreys recommended educators to inspire children instead of dictating them and added “Each child is a genius. Every individual is unique. Differentiated education is an approach to reveal the genius in children, who are individually special and unique. Educators should nurture the enthusiasm for learning in children with patience and love. They should promote outcome oriented learning instead of success oriented learning. Education is created by the student and the teacher.” We have successfully ended another Handan Oktar Early Childhood and Primary Years Conference.
