ISIKKENT EDUCATION CAMPUS CONTINUES ITS SUCCESS IN THE GSL PROGRAM IN ITS FIFTH YEAR 30.09.2024

Işıkkent School is entering its 5th year in the Global Social Leaders (GSL) program, which is carried out internationally as part of the United Nations' Social Responsibility Project. Within the scope of the GSL program, our teams, consisting of middle and high school students, develop projects towards the Sustainable Development Goals, which are aimed to be achieved by 2030, and seek sustainable solutions to environmental problems. In the 2023-2024 academic year, a total of four Işıkkent teams competed with more than 300 student teams from 18 different countries. In the evaluation made by Future Foundations and Wellington Leadership Institute in June 2024: - “Compostation” team consisting of Ela Koçak, Yağmur Tavus, Bora Tavus, Lara Saybaşılı, İpek Atlı, Zehra Ela Yalçın, Zeynep İnci Nuroğlu won two separate awards in the “IMPACT” and “LEARNING” categories with their bokashi and garden composting work and kindergarten student education projects, which they have been conducting for the last four years with raw and cooked food waste from food preparations at school. - The “Trash to Treasure” team, consisting of Kayra Kırca, Selim Önal, Elif Naz Polat, Ela Irmak Özcan, Aras Çam, Ege Tuna, received the “CREATIVITY” award for their project in which they upcycled and reused waste materials and furniture at the school.
